Computer Love !
At first glance, it looks as if whoever was operating the computer, was attempting to crack some sort of code. The orb shaped figure in the background looks like a planet with spots or a pietre dish with something that is magnified on it. I found this piece to be interesting, because it is something that I am not familiar with.
This picture reminds me of the movie The Davinci Code because the main actor uses his knowledge of prehistoric symbols to crack the codes of a wrongfully murdered person.

Tree Replication
To tell the truth, I really did not know what to think when I first saw this picture… but after a closer look and broadening my mind, I felt as though the picture represented the return of plant life to the earth… Man’s effort to right the wrongs that have occured for the past few hundred years.. with more trees and less polution the ozone layer will hopefully fix itself in the ongoing struggle to correct global warming

Take a look at this

When I first saw this picture, it reminded me of the ever progressing field of human ingenuity, and that no matter what is built that is stated to be the best, long lasting, “unsinkable” that it is still man made and therefore imperfect. I think this picture represents the perfect depection that nothing is perfect.

Second Life Class

I Really enjoyed meeting with the class in second life. I think that we should have started this earlier in the semester because it was interesting to travel to the different islands to view works, as well as installations. My favorite part of that class was getting a chance to talk to one of the artists whose work we viewed. He was very open to questions and letting us know his inspirations for his art work.
The picture above is a snapshot taken by me before we set off to explore Second Life.

My take on Stelarc’s “Exoskeleton”!
Although I am not really in to robotics, I find Stelarc’s “Exoskeleton” to be somewhat interesting. So what exactly is the ”Exoskeleton”? It is a walking machine with six legs that has been created to suit the human body. It performs human-like actions, such as sitting, squatting, and lifting objects! It is human-like, but has extra amenities. What amazes me is the individual freedom that each individual gripper (finger) has. Just as we can point, so can the exoskeleton! With the movements the exoskeleton performs, it forms that mechanical “robotic” sound that is very intriguing to me.

Understanding…A little better 3/38/08
So, coming into Digital Art History, I was expecting the work that we studied to be created on a computer in Digital form. I am now realizing that not only is it works digitally created ON the computer, but it is work that is created INLCLUDING computer and media technology. I now understand that the term has a broader meaning than what I expected and it is helping me to understand these pieces more clearly.

The YES MEN!…Hilarious!
I enjoy the way the Yes Men Impersonate Political Figures (and some others) to humiliate their wrongdoing. They pin point a lot of things some people are afraid to speak out about. Some people may ask, why not protest instead of humiliation? It is because Protesting does not work! Protesting has generally been overlooked for hundreds and thousands of years! Slaves protested because they did not want to be held in captivity and look how long it took to get the same rights as others! Late 1960s! I enjoy their approach to different situations because it is abnormal….and we all know that what is abnormal clearly stands out! It gives them media attention, through TV and Internet that allows their actions to be spread rapidly.
Now…back to the abnormality. One of the most abnormal things that a lot of people FEAR is gay marriages. (Btw, no I am not gay). A prank that the Yes Men created about Divorcing all legalized Gay Marriages is hilarious and really gives insight to how citizens really feel and think. Review the video and let me know what you think! After all…it’s more fun to be satirical, right?

Blog 3/15/08
Ok soooo, I know I should have started developing this blog a little earlier, but I am still trying to actually grasp the concept of what exactly is “Digital Art”. As I do more research and understand more, I will post my ideas and thoughts! Your comments are greatly appreciated!
